The 1912 contest saw Ohio line up behind Wilson, delivering 24 electoral votes to the Democratic ticket. Ohio ended up on the winning side — Woodrow Wilson captured the White House that year.

Wilson's win closed out Ohio's 14-election run of voting Republican. The region divided — Michigan, Indiana, Kentucky, and West Virginia joined Ohio for the Democratic ticket, while Pennsylvania did not. Across the 56 presidential elections Ohio has taken part in, it has most often sided with the Republican party (30 times). The vote fell within the Progressive Era — Trust-busting, suffrage, and World War I.
