Ohio in 1924

The 1924 contest saw Ohio line up behind Coolidge, delivering 24 electoral votes to the Republican ticket. That placed Ohio with the eventual winner: Calvin Coolidge went on to take the presidency, and Ohio was part of his column.

Ohio stayed in the Republican column for the 2nd straight cycle, extending a run that began in 1920. The region divided — Michigan, Indiana, West Virginia, and Pennsylvania joined Ohio for the Republican ticket, while Kentucky did not. Over its 56 recorded presidential cycles, Ohio has backed the Republican party more than any other — 30 times in all. The vote fell within the Roaring Twenties — Republican dominance to the Great Depression.

Nationally, Calvin Coolidge finished with 382 of the 531 electoral votes to John W. Davis's 136. Calvin Coolidge led the national popular vote with 54.04% of the ballots cast.
