Oklahoma backed Roosevelt (Democratic) in the 1944 presidential election, casting 10 electoral votes for the ticket. Oklahoma ended up on the winning side — Franklin D. Roosevelt captured the White House that year.

It marked the 4th consecutive election in which Oklahoma backed the Democratic party, a streak reaching back to 1932. The region divided — Missouri, Arkansas, Texas, New Mexico, and Colorado joined Oklahoma for the Democratic ticket, while Kansas did not. Across the 30 presidential elections Oklahoma has taken part in, it has most often sided with the Republican party (20 times). The vote fell within the New Deal Coalition — FDR, civil rights, and the long Democratic majority.
