2020
Ohio in 2020
The 2020 contest saw Ohio line up behind Trump, delivering 18 electoral votes to the Republican ticket. The presidency went elsewhere: Joe Biden (Democratic) won nationally, while Ohio had backed a different ticket.
Ohio stayed in the Republican column for the 2nd straight cycle, extending a run that began in 2016. The region divided — Indiana, Kentucky, and West Virginia joined Ohio for the Republican ticket, while Michigan and Pennsylvania did not. Over its 56 recorded presidential cycles, Ohio has backed the Republican party more than any other — 30 times in all. The vote fell within the Modern Polarization — Close elections in a divided country.
Nationally, Joe Biden finished with 306 of the 538 electoral votes to Donald Trump's 232. Joe Biden led the national popular vote with 51.31% of the ballots cast.
