Connecticut stayed in the Democratic column for the 8th straight cycle, extending a run that began in 1992. Connecticut did not move alone — neighboring New York, Massachusetts, and Rhode Island broke the same way in 2020. Over its 60 recorded presidential cycles, Connecticut has backed the Democratic party more than any other — 24 times in all. The vote fell within the Modern Polarization — Close elections in a divided country.
Nationally, Joe Biden finished with 306 of the 538 electoral votes to Donald Trump's 232. Joe Biden led the national popular vote with 51.31% of the ballots cast.
