Nevada in 1932

The 1932 contest saw Nevada line up behind Roosevelt, delivering 3 electoral votes to the Democratic ticket. That placed Nevada with the eventual winner: Franklin D. Roosevelt went on to take the presidency, and Nevada was part of his column.

The result flipped Nevada away from the Republican it had supported in 1928. Nevada did not move alone — neighboring California, Oregon, Idaho, Utah, and Arizona broke the same way in 1932. Over its 41 recorded presidential cycles, Nevada has backed the Republican party more than any other — 21 times in all. The vote fell within the New Deal Coalition — FDR, civil rights, and the long Democratic majority.

Nationally, Franklin D. Roosevelt finished with 472 of the 531 electoral votes to Herbert Hoover's 59. Franklin D. Roosevelt led the national popular vote with 57.41% of the ballots cast.
