1916
Reading the 1916 result in Nevada
Nevada backed Wilson (Democratic) in the 1916 presidential election, casting 3 electoral votes for the ticket. That placed Nevada with the eventual winner: Woodrow Wilson went on to take the presidency, and Nevada was part of his column.
Nevada stayed in the Democratic column for the 3rd straight cycle, extending a run that began in 1908. Nevada did not move alone — neighboring California, Oregon, Idaho, Utah, and Arizona broke the same way in 1916. Over its 41 recorded presidential cycles, Nevada has backed the Republican party more than any other — 21 times in all. The vote fell within the Progressive Era — Trust-busting, suffrage, and World War I.
Nationally, Woodrow Wilson finished with 277 of the 531 electoral votes to Charles Evans Hughes's 254. Woodrow Wilson led the national popular vote with 49.24% of the ballots cast.
