2024
What happened in Pennsylvania, 2024
In 2024, Pennsylvania awarded its 19 electoral votes to Trump of the Republican party. That placed Pennsylvania with the eventual winner: Donald Trump went on to take the presidency, and Pennsylvania was part of his column.
The result flipped Pennsylvania away from the Democratic it had supported in 2020. The region divided — Ohio and West Virginia joined Pennsylvania for the Republican ticket, while Maryland, Delaware, New Jersey, and New York did not. Over its 60 recorded presidential cycles, Pennsylvania has backed the Republican party more than any other — 26 times in all. The vote fell within the Modern Polarization — Close elections in a divided country.
Nationally, Donald Trump finished with 312 of the 538 electoral votes to Kamala Harris's 226. Donald Trump led the national popular vote with 49.8% of the ballots cast.
