The 2020 contest saw Colorado line up behind Biden, delivering 9 electoral votes to the Democratic ticket. Colorado ended up on the winning side — Joe Biden captured the White House that year.

It marked the 4th consecutive election in which Colorado backed the Democratic party, a streak reaching back to 2008. The region divided — New Mexico and Arizona joined Colorado for the Democratic ticket, while Wyoming, Nebraska, Kansas, Oklahoma, and Utah did not. Across the 37 presidential elections Colorado has taken part in, it has most often sided with the Republican party (19 times).
