Arizona backed Trump (Republican) in the 2016 presidential election, casting 11 electoral votes for the ticket. Arizona ended up on the winning side — Donald Trump captured the White House that year.

It marked the 17th consecutive election in which Arizona backed the Republican party, a streak reaching back to 1952. The region divided — Utah joined Arizona for the Republican ticket, while California, Nevada, Colorado, and New Mexico did not.
