In 2024, Arizona awarded its 11 electoral votes to Trump of the Republican party. That placed Arizona with the eventual winner: Donald Trump went on to take the presidency, and Arizona was part of his column.
The result flipped Arizona away from the Democratic it had supported in 2020. The region divided — Nevada and Utah joined Arizona for the Republican ticket, while California, Colorado, and New Mexico did not. Over its 29 recorded presidential cycles, Arizona has backed the Republican party more than any other — 18 times in all. The vote fell within the Modern Polarization — Close elections in a divided country.
Nationally, Donald Trump finished with 312 of the 538 electoral votes to Kamala Harris's 226. Donald Trump led the national popular vote with 49.8% of the ballots cast.
