1952
Nebraska in 1952
The 1952 contest saw Nebraska line up behind Eisenhower, delivering 6 electoral votes to the Republican ticket. Nebraska ended up on the winning side — Dwight D. Eisenhower captured the White House that year.
It marked the 4th consecutive election in which Nebraska backed the Republican party, a streak reaching back to 1940. Nebraska did not move alone — neighboring South Dakota, Iowa, Missouri, Kansas, Colorado, and Wyoming broke the same way in 1952. Across the 40 presidential elections Nebraska has taken part in, it has most often sided with the Republican party (31 times). The vote fell within the New Deal Coalition — FDR, civil rights, and the long Democratic majority.
In the national count, Dwight D. Eisenhower took 442 of the 531 electoral votes, against Adlai Stevenson II's 89. Dwight D. Eisenhower led the national popular vote with 55.18% of the ballots cast.
