The 1932 contest saw Minnesota line up behind Roosevelt, delivering 11 electoral votes to the Democratic ticket. Minnesota ended up on the winning side — Franklin D. Roosevelt captured the White House that year.

Roosevelt's win closed out Minnesota's 4-election run of voting Republican. Minnesota did not move alone — neighboring North Dakota, South Dakota, Iowa, and Wisconsin broke the same way in 1932. Across the 43 presidential elections Minnesota has taken part in, it has most often sided with the Democratic party (23 times). The vote fell within the New Deal Coalition — FDR, civil rights, and the long Democratic majority.

In the national count, Franklin D. Roosevelt took 472 of the 531 electoral votes, against Herbert Hoover's 59. Franklin D. Roosevelt led the national popular vote with 57.41% of the ballots cast.
