In 1924, New Jersey awarded its 14 electoral votes to Coolidge of the Republican party. New Jersey ended up on the winning side — Calvin Coolidge captured the White House that year.

It marked the 2nd consecutive election in which New Jersey backed the Republican party, a streak reaching back to 1920. New Jersey did not move alone — neighboring New York, Pennsylvania, and Delaware broke the same way in 1924. Across the 60 presidential elections New Jersey has taken part in, it has most often sided with the Democratic party (31 times). The vote fell within the Roaring Twenties — Republican dominance to the Great Depression.

In the national count, Calvin Coolidge took 382 of the 531 electoral votes, against John W. Davis's 136. Calvin Coolidge led the national popular vote with 54.04% of the ballots cast.
