The 1912 contest saw Maryland line up behind Wilson, delivering 8 electoral votes to the Democratic ticket. Maryland ended up on the winning side — Woodrow Wilson captured the White House that year.

It marked the 4th consecutive election in which Maryland backed the Democratic party, a streak reaching back to 1900. The region divided — Virginia, West Virginia, and Delaware joined Maryland for the Democratic ticket, while Pennsylvania did not. Across the 60 presidential elections Maryland has taken part in, it has most often sided with the Democratic party (34 times).
