The 2024 contest saw Texas line up behind Trump, delivering 40 electoral votes to the Republican ticket. Texas ended up on the winning side — Donald Trump captured the White House that year.

It marked the 12th consecutive election in which Texas backed the Republican party, a streak reaching back to 1980. The region divided — Oklahoma, Arkansas, and Louisiana joined Texas for the Republican ticket, while New Mexico did not. Across the 44 presidential elections Texas has taken part in, it has most often sided with the Democratic party (28 times). In the national count, Donald Trump took 312 of the 538 electoral votes, against Kamala Harris's 226. Donald Trump led the national popular vote with 49.8% of the ballots cast.
