Georgia backed Trump (Republican) in the 2024 presidential election, casting 16 electoral votes for the ticket. Georgia ended up on the winning side — Donald Trump captured the White House that year.
The result flipped Georgia away from the Democratic it had supported in 2020. Georgia did not move alone — neighboring Florida, Alabama, Tennessee, North Carolina, and South Carolina broke the same way in 2024. Across the 59 presidential elections Georgia has taken part in, it has most often sided with the Democratic party (34 times). The vote fell within the Modern Polarization — Close elections in a divided country.
In the national count, Donald Trump took 312 of the 538 electoral votes, against Kamala Harris's 226. Donald Trump led the national popular vote with 49.8% of the ballots cast.
