Maryland backed Clinton (Democratic) in the 1992 presidential election, casting 10 electoral votes for the ticket. Maryland ended up on the winning side — Bill Clinton captured the White House that year.

It marked the 2nd consecutive election in which Maryland backed the Democratic party, a streak reaching back to 1988. The region divided — West Virginia, Pennsylvania, Delaware, and District of Columbia joined Maryland for the Democratic ticket, while Virginia did not.
