Colorado in 1912

The 1912 contest saw Colorado line up behind Wilson, delivering 6 electoral votes to the Democratic ticket. That placed Colorado with the eventual winner: Woodrow Wilson went on to take the presidency, and Colorado was part of his column.

The result flipped Colorado away from the Republican it had supported in 1908. Colorado did not move alone — neighboring Wyoming, Nebraska, Kansas, Oklahoma, New Mexico, Arizona, and Utah broke the same way in 1912. Over its 37 recorded presidential cycles, Colorado has backed the Republican party more than any other — 19 times in all. The vote fell within the Progressive Era — Trust-busting, suffrage, and World War I.

Nationally, Woodrow Wilson finished with 435 of the 531 electoral votes to Theodore Roosevelt's 88. Woodrow Wilson led the national popular vote with 41.84% of the ballots cast.
