The 2024 contest saw Vermont line up behind Harris, delivering 3 electoral votes to the Democratic ticket. Nationally the result broke the other way — Donald Trump (Republican) won the presidency, leaving Vermont among the states he did not carry.

It marked the 9th consecutive election in which Vermont backed the Democratic party, a streak reaching back to 1992. Vermont did not move alone — neighboring New York, Massachusetts, and New Hampshire broke the same way in 2024.
