New Jersey backed Harris (Democratic) in the 2024 presidential election, casting 14 electoral votes for the ticket. Nationally the result broke the other way — Donald Trump (Republican) won the presidency, leaving New Jersey among the states he did not carry.

It marked the 9th consecutive election in which New Jersey backed the Democratic party, a streak reaching back to 1992. The region divided — New York and Delaware joined New Jersey for the Democratic ticket, while Pennsylvania did not. Across the 60 presidential elections New Jersey has taken part in, it has most often sided with the Democratic party (31 times). In the national count, Donald Trump took 312 of the 538 electoral votes, against Kamala Harris's 226. Donald Trump led the national popular vote with 49.8% of the ballots cast.
