2020
Reading the 2020 result in Wyoming
Wyoming backed Trump (Republican) in the 2020 presidential election, casting 3 electoral votes for the ticket. Nationally the result broke the other way — Joe Biden (Democratic) won the presidency, leaving Wyoming among the states he did not carry.
It marked the 14th consecutive election in which Wyoming backed the Republican party, a streak reaching back to 1968. The region divided — Montana, South Dakota, Nebraska, Utah, and Idaho joined Wyoming for the Republican ticket, while Colorado did not. Across the 34 presidential elections Wyoming has taken part in, it has most often sided with the Republican party (24 times). The vote fell within the Modern Polarization — Close elections in a divided country.
In the national count, Joe Biden took 306 of the 538 electoral votes, against Donald Trump's 232. Joe Biden led the national popular vote with 51.31% of the ballots cast.
