The 2020 contest saw Massachusetts line up behind Biden, delivering 11 electoral votes to the Democratic ticket. Massachusetts ended up on the winning side — Joe Biden captured the White House that year.

It marked the 10th consecutive election in which Massachusetts backed the Democratic party, a streak reaching back to 1984. Massachusetts did not move alone — neighboring Rhode Island, Connecticut, New York, Vermont, and New Hampshire broke the same way in 2020.
