In 1960, Nevada awarded its 3 electoral votes to Kennedy of the Democratic party. Nevada ended up on the winning side — John F. Kennedy captured the White House that year.

Kennedy's win closed out Nevada's 2-election run of voting Republican. It stood apart from its neighbors: California, Oregon, Idaho, Utah, and Arizona went the other way that year.
