2020
What happened in Oregon, 2020
In 2020, Oregon awarded its 7 electoral votes to Biden of the Democratic party. That placed Oregon with the eventual winner: Joe Biden went on to take the presidency, and Oregon was part of his column.
Oregon stayed in the Democratic column for the 9th straight cycle, extending a run that began in 1988. The region divided — Washington, Nevada, and California joined Oregon for the Democratic ticket, while Idaho did not. Over its 42 recorded presidential cycles, Oregon has backed the Republican party more than any other — 23 times in all. The vote fell within the Modern Polarization — Close elections in a divided country.
Nationally, Joe Biden finished with 306 of the 538 electoral votes to Donald Trump's 232. Joe Biden led the national popular vote with 51.31% of the ballots cast.
