In 2020, Nevada awarded its 6 electoral votes to Biden of the Democratic party. Nevada ended up on the winning side — Joe Biden captured the White House that year.
It marked the 4th consecutive election in which Nevada backed the Democratic party, a streak reaching back to 2008. The region divided — California, Oregon, and Arizona joined Nevada for the Democratic ticket, while Idaho and Utah did not. Across the 41 presidential elections Nevada has taken part in, it has most often sided with the Republican party (21 times). The vote fell within the Modern Polarization — Close elections in a divided country.
In the national count, Joe Biden took 306 of the 538 electoral votes, against Donald Trump's 232. Joe Biden led the national popular vote with 51.31% of the ballots cast.
