The 1908 contest saw Kansas line up behind Taft, delivering 10 electoral votes to the Republican ticket. Kansas ended up on the winning side — William Howard Taft captured the White House that year.

It marked the 2nd consecutive election in which Kansas backed the Republican party, a streak reaching back to 1904. The region divided — Colorado joined Kansas for the Republican ticket, while Nebraska, Missouri, and Oklahoma did not. Across the 41 presidential elections Kansas has taken part in, it has most often sided with the Republican party (34 times). The vote fell within the Progressive Era — Trust-busting, suffrage, and World War I.

In the national count, William Howard Taft took 321 of the 483 electoral votes, against William Jennings Bryan's 162. William Howard Taft led the national popular vote with 51.57% of the ballots cast.
