The 1904 contest saw New Hampshire line up behind Roosevelt, delivering 4 electoral votes to the Republican ticket. New Hampshire ended up on the winning side — Theodore Roosevelt captured the White House that year.

It marked the 5th consecutive election in which New Hampshire backed the Republican party, a streak reaching back to 1888. New Hampshire did not move alone — neighboring Vermont, Massachusetts, and Maine broke the same way in 1904. Across the 59 presidential elections New Hampshire has taken part in, it has most often sided with the Republican party (28 times). The vote fell within the Progressive Era — Trust-busting, suffrage, and World War I.

In the national count, Theodore Roosevelt took 336 of the 476 electoral votes, against Alton B. Parker's 140. Theodore Roosevelt led the national popular vote with 56.42% of the ballots cast.
